Welcome to the Saint-George d’Orques wine producers’ site

Well known since the Middle Ages and officially recognized as AOC Languedoc-Saint-Georges-d ’Orques in 1985, the area is one of the historic terroirs from which sprung the AOC Languedoc. Described as fine and elegant, the wines were known well outside the French kingdom; indeed, Thomas Jefferson not only raved about them, he exonerated them from the USA’s import tax.

Situated to the west of Montpellier, the vineyards are at the heart of the geographically complementary ‘Grés de Montpellier’. Basically hilly, Saint Georges d’Orques is organized around two terroirs : the ‘En-bas’ (lower) and the En-haut (high). The splendid wines born of a blend of both reflect the terroir’s character and complexity.
